arc en rêve centre d'architecture
Bordeaux
Presented in the 4,000 square foot main gallery at arc en rêve centre d'architecture in Bordeaux, we have designed album to present a panorama exclusively made up of pictures, extending from everyday details to a global approach. In the six exhibition areas, organised thematically, album featured some 800 documents, preparatory drawings, sketches, models and archive photos that we dig out of our studio. Our intention was to present all these documents at the same level, whether they relate to i
ndustrial projects, galleries, architectural designs or research projects, in order to convey just what lies behind their multi-facetted production. This means that even when there a differences in scale, all the visuals are framed in exactly the same way so that there is no hierarchy between them. For instance, we chose to devote an entire wall to about a hundred drawings of chairs that have never been made. The exhibition aimed to provide an insight into what makes our work environment, via a mode of presentation that is unusual for a design show; we wanted the visitor to discover a panorama that is both unified and multi-facetted, from floor to ceiling. The whole exhibition forms a kind of treasure trail between the various projects and approaches that coexist in the workshop.
